
Arabuko Sokote reserve is a few kilometers inland, between the towns of Kilifi and Malindi, 110kms north of Mombasa. It is the largest existing fragment of the tropical forests that once covered much of East African coast and is an important habitat fot endemic/endangered birds, mammals species and insects.
It is also am important monument as a remnant of the coastal tropical forets. They are easy trails in the forests that are also great for birders.
A couple of reptile species are found here including the boomslang, green mamba, rock python, forest cobra, sand lizard and day guello.
It is a great reserve for bird watching with species including Sokoke Pipit, Amani Sunbird, Fischer's Turaco, Clarke's weaver(endemic to kenya) and the golden woodpecker.
